Bulin 47 Dance Tutorial: How to Do the Shoulder Move

The Bulin 47 dance is a small, relaxed shoulder bounce on the dembow beat: knees soft, one shoulder up, then the other. It is the move behind the words "dame hombro", and you can learn it in a few minutes.

The short answer

To do the Bulin 47 dance, stand with your feet shoulder width apart, bend your knees a little and bounce on every beat while you lift your right shoulder, then your left, in small alternating moves. Keep your arms loose, your head steady and your face relaxed. There is no official choreography: the move comes from the improvised street freestyle by Bulin 47 and Kevin Wai, so the attitude matters more than exact counts.

How to do the Bulin 47 shoulder move in 5 steps

  1. Set your stance

Stand with your feet about shoulder width apart and your knees slightly bent. A soft knee is what lets the bounce travel up into the shoulders instead of staying in the neck.

  2. Bounce on the beat

Drop a little on every strong beat of the dembow rhythm and come back up. It is a small bounce, not a jump; your feet stay on the floor.

  3. Lift one shoulder

On a bounce, raise your right shoulder a few centimetres and let it drop. The other shoulder stays relaxed. Think of a quick shrug, not a big roll.

  4. Alternate sides

On the next beat, lift the left shoulder. Keep going right, left, right, left, letting your chest lean a touch toward the shoulder that is up.

  5. Finish with attitude

After four to eight bounces, hold still for a moment, look at the camera and smile. That pause is part of what makes the clip read as the Bulin 47 freestyle.

Practise the Bulin 47 dance step by step

Start from a soft, low stance

Most people start too stiff. Bend the knees until you feel the bounce in your thighs, let the arms hang with the elbows slightly bent, and keep the chin level. From here the shoulders move almost on their own.

Drill it on 8 counts

Count 1: bounce and right shoulder up. Count 2: left shoulder up. Counts 3 and 4: right, then left again. Counts 5 to 8: repeat with a bit more energy. This count is a teaching aid, not an official routine, so speed it up or slow it down to match the sound you use.

Fix the four common mistakes

Moving only the neck, shrugging the shoulders as high as they go, jumping instead of bouncing and rolling the shoulders in big circles all make the move look like a different dance. Keep it small, low and alternating.

How to film the Bulin 47 challenge

Frame it like the original clip

Film vertically, from head to knees, with the phone at chest height. The original freestyle was shot by people standing around in the street at night, so a friend holding the phone looks more natural than a tripod far away.

Pick the right sound

TikTok lists both the original street freestyle and the studio song Dame Hombro, released on October 7, 2026. They are different recordings, so choose one before you film and time your first bounce to its beat.

Keep it short

Four to eight bounces and a final pause fit in about 15 seconds, the length of the moment that went viral. Ask anyone else in the shot before you post the video.
